Paul Drinkhall has confirmed his place as Britain’s number 1 table tennis player by being selected as the only individual representative for Team GB. In addition he will also be competing for Britain in the team event competition.

Paul narrowly missed out on automatic qualification and has been given a wildcard to the singles event this summer. However, having recently broke in to the world top 100 and piling on the training in the coming month, his prospects look bright.

Next year Paul will be competing in the German Bundesliga with Werder Bremen, and having just played his last game for Stalingrada in the Italian First Division, he has headed out to China with the rest of Team GB Table Tennis for an intensive training programme prior to the Olympics.

Paul said of his selection: “It’s a great achievement to be selected by the Great Britain team. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to play in a home games. I can only guess how it will feel.”
